Germanwings Flight Delay / Cancellation Compensation

If you as an EU air passengers face problems due to flight delays or flight cancellations or you have been denied boarding due to overbooking then you can claim compensation from the airlines. According to the European Union Regulation 261/2004 passenger rights, one can claim up to €600 for the problem caused due to flight delays or cancellations.

To claim compensation from Germanwings airlines your flight should be delayed for more than 3 hours. EC Regulation 261/2004, applies to air passengers who travelling within Europe or/and travelling abroad or coming to Europe with an EU registered air carrier.

Eurowings and Germanwings are the subsidiaries of Lufthansa Airlines, both are German-based Airline and the largest airline in Europe. Eurowings was founded in the year 1993 and its services commenced a year later. Germanwings was founded in 1997 as a division of EuroWings but later it was established as a separate company in the year 2002. Earlier EuroWings was part of the Lufthansa Regional, which from October 2014 started operating on behalf of Germanwings flying exclusively to domestic and European destinations from several German Airports. EuroWings is also being redeveloped into a Low-cost carrier for both the Long and Short Haul flights incorporating the route network of Germanwings. This incorporation of the Germanwings route network with EuroWings should have been done by the end of Oct 2015.

Germanwings Flight Delays or Cancellations problems

Germanwings Airlines is basically a low-cost airline venture of the Lufthansa Group. It is a rapidly growing airline, mainly because of its low-cost business model. Germanwings has hubs at Cologne Bonn airport , Stuttgart airport, Hamburg airport, Berlin Tegel airport and Dusseldorf airport . Germanwings operate around 90 aircraft, which fly to many destinations in numerous countries. Heavy air traffic or delay of the air carrier may cause delays for Germanwings flights. Passengers travelling on a Germanwings flight should not tolerate the inconvenience caused to them and should claim compensation for the delay of a flight. The crash of Germanwings Flight 9525 is not typical for Germanwings, as they apply high security and safety standards.

Know your rights to claim compensation!

Air passengers are often unaware of the fact that it is their right to claim compensation for the delay or cancellation of a flight. Germanwings flight delays can be caused due to a number of reasons such as flight damage, flight failure or flight strike. If the airline denies boarding due to overbooking or a passenger misses a connecting flight due to current flight delays, then they can claim a refund from the airlines. The EU passenger rights regulation provides them with the complete freedom not only to demand money back from the airlines but also to ask for reimbursements and accommodation expenses if necessary.

How much money can be claimed from the airline?

People are often unaware of the law and therefore claim a very meagre amount compared to what they are actually entitled to. The compensation calculator on the Claim Flights website helps you to calculate the amount a passenger is entitled to claim from Germanwings Airlines. All you need to do is fill in a form for claiming compensation in the case of a flight delay. Expert lawyers at Claim Flights make sure that you get right amount at the right time from the airline. Passengers should report every airline delay and make complete use of their rights.
